Fire Suppression System Maintenance & Inspection

An installed fire suppression system that has never been serviced is not a reliable one. AS 5062:2022 requires ongoing maintenance, inspection and testing at defined intervals. MusterFire's maintenance program keeps every system operational, compliant and ready to activate when it matters.

Why Maintenance Cannot Be Skipped

Why Maintenance Cannot Be Skipped

AS5062-2022 establishes minimum maintenance intervals for mobile plant fire suppression systems. MusterFire's maintenance service meets and exceeds those requirements, giving operators documented compliance evidence for site safety files and insurer requirements.

FAQs

How often should a fire suppression system be serviced?

Operator-level checks daily or weekly, a periodic inspection every six months, and a full annual service once per year. High-risk environments may require more frequent servicing.

What does a fire suppression system service include?

Cylinder pressure verification, nozzle inspection and cleaning, detection circuit continuity testing, hose and fitting condition assessment, valve and actuator function testing, re-commissioning and updated compliance documentation.

Can I service the fire suppression system myself?

Operator-level visual checks can be performed by the machine operator. Periodic and annual servicing must be performed by a trained MusterFire authorised technician to maintain compliance documentation.

What documentation do I get after a service?

A signed service record, updated compliance certificate and a revised maintenance schedule. These form part of your site safety file and evidence compliance with AS 5062:2022.

Does the machine need to stop operating for maintenance?

Yes. Full service requires the machine to be de-energised and cool. MusterFire distributors work with operators to schedule servicing during planned maintenance shutdowns.

What happens if the system is accidentally discharged?

The system must be re-filled with agent and re-commissioned by an authorised MusterFire technician before returning to service. Documentation of the discharge event and re-commissioning must be recorded.

Will an unmaintained system void my insurance?

Fire insurers assess maintenance records when reviewing claims. An unmaintained or non-compliant system can be used by insurers to reduce or void coverage.

How far in advance should I book a service?

MusterFire recommends scheduling annual services at least four to six weeks in advance to secure availability.

What are the signs that a fire suppression system needs immediate attention?

Contact your authorised distributor immediately if you observe: low pressure on the cylinder gauge, active fault indicator lights on the alarm panel, visible damage to hoses or nozzles, or evidence of agent leakage.
