Not every fire suppression problem has a foam or powder answer. In enclosed engine bays, electrical cabinets, battery compartments and generator enclosures, the challenge isn’t just suppressing a fire quickly. It’s doing so without the space for cylinders, the complexity of routing pipework, or the residue that can damage electronics and sensitive equipment.
The solid aerosol generator addresses each of those constraints. It’s a small, self-contained device that mounts directly inside a protected enclosure and, when activated, converts a solid chemical compound into a suppression agent without any external supply line.
Inside a SAG Unit
A solid aerosol generator contains a proprietary solid chemical compound sealed inside a compact canister. Under standard conditions it’s inert, stable and requires no pressurisation. When an electrical or thermal activation signal triggers the compound, a controlled reaction begins — producing micron-sized particles and gases that form a uniform aerosol filling the protected enclosure rapidly and evenly.
Key Characteristics
- No pressurised cylinder required
- No pipework or nozzle array
- Discharge direct from the canister, inside the risk zone
- Even distribution throughout the enclosed space
How Aerosol Suppresses Fire
Conventional suppression agents work by removing heat (water, foam) or displacing oxygen (CO2, inert gas). Solid aerosol suppression works differently. The micron-sized particles interfere directly with the chemical chain reactions that sustain combustion. When the reaction chain breaks down, the flame extinguishes even if heat and fuel remain present.

Frequently Asked Questions
A solid aerosol generator is used to suppress fires in enclosed spaces. Applications include generator cabinets, EV battery compartments, electrical enclosures and rail equipment bays.
Aerosol suppresses fire by chemically interrupting the combustion chain reaction, not by displacing oxygen. It works in imperfectly sealed enclosures without pressurised cylinders.
Muster SAG does not leave corrosive or conductive residue, making it suitable for electrical and electronic equipment.
Yes. Dual or triple agent configurations are available combining SAG with foam and IPS powder.
