TANA GREEN WASTE SHREDDER
FIRE SUPPRESSION CASE STUDY (2025)
THE FACT
Operating in waste management conditions, the TANA Green Waste Shredder faced extreme fire risks. With the machine processing combustible materials such as biomass and woodchips, and frequently operating unattended, it was vulnerable to fire hazards that could escalate rapidly.
THE CHALLENGE
The environment posed multiple risk factors, including the accumulation of flammable debris, heat from engine components and exhaust systems, and the potential for ignition in engine bays and belly pans. If unaddressed, these risks threatened not only costly downtime and equipment loss, but also environmental damage and reputational harm.
THE SOLUTION
To address these critical risks, the shredder was fitted with a Muster Linear Heat Detection (LHD) Foam System, selected for its rapid activation and effective coverage in high-debris environments. The system was installed with remote strobe fire alarm units, ensuring visual alerts even in noisy or remote areas. This configuration delivered a compliant, site-specific fire safety upgrade for the operation.
THE OUTCOME
a fully compliant fire suppression solution that elevated on-site safety. While no specific metrics were recorded, the proactive approach significantly reduced fire risk and brought peace of mind to operators working in hazardous conditions.
